As the cold weather months are upon us, and students start wearing hats and scarves routinely, it is a good time to remind you relative to what we do as a school district to keep students healthy and comfortable and what you as parents can do to help.  I am writing to make sure you are fully informed relative to Suffield's health policy (#5141.221) associated with the prevention and treatment of head lice.

Letter to Parents – Student Username & Password

As you may be aware students may bring their mobile phone and other technology devices to school and can use these with teacher permission for educational purposes.

When not being used these devices should be secured in the student’ locker making sure that the locker is securely locked.  When a student has lost a device, they should inform the office as soon as possible.  Administration will do our best to locate the device.

When a digital device is lost or stolen there are risks of the loss or theft of sensitive data, information, pictures and even a child’s identity.  You can help protect your child’s device by locking the device with a PIN.  It is recommended that all devices being used in school be locked with a PIN to prevent unauthorized access to the apps or information.  Please reinforce with your child never to share a password or PIN with anyone except parents or guardians.  It is recommended that you know your child’s passwords or PINs to regularly monitor their memberships and use particularly of social media.

You can help us retrieve lost devices by turning on or downloading an app that would help locate the phone or device if it is lost or stolen.  This allows you to dial the number and locate it on a map and even erase sensitive information remotely.  For more information on device security, you can check out http://www.staysmartonline.gov.au/home_users/Secure_your_mobile_phone_and_devices

Thank you for your help.
